High School Student Donates Fidget Blankets to Hospice Patients

Mount Notre Dame student Samantha Harold organized the making of 10 fidget blankets with fellow students for her capstone project at school.  Each blanket represents approximately 12 hours of planning, shopping, cutting and sewing.

“We are so grateful for these blankets that will be given to HOC patients,” says Lori Asmus, manager of volunteer services. “Many of our hospice patients have dementia concerns and the blankets help to focus attention and energy, alleviate anxiety and provide a welcome distraction to symptoms and pain.”

Hospice of Cincinnati is always recruiting talented sewers and crafters to volunteer remotely from home on special needs items like fidget blankets, afghans and pillowcases for veterans. To learn more about you can join our crafter ranks please email hocvolunteers@trihealth.com  or submit a volunteer application.
